Amanda Foyil

Owner & Lead Instructor

 

Specialties: Vocal Performance, Vocal Heath, & Vocal Technique

 

Amanda Foyil graduated with honors from East Central University with her Bachelors in Vocal & Instrumental Music Education grades PreK-12. She loves sharing her passion of music with her students and was named Chairman of the Northeastern Choral Directors Association  in 2012. She has served on the state board of the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association as their High School Show Choir Chairman, Men's Choir Chair, and Junior High Choir Chair. She served on the Southwest Region American Choral Directors Association as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Junior High Choirs for 4 years.

 

Amanda offers lessons and classes for Voice, Piano, Ukulele and all Band instruments.  She is state certified in voice, piano, & all band instruments. She has taught students who are beginners to Nashville recording artists!  Her students have performed all over the world including Carnagie Hall multiple times in New York and Disney World! Her groups have been selected to perform as honor groups for the Oklahoma Music Educator's Association's State Conference multiple times!  She has several former students who are currently professional performers in Country Music, Musical Theater and Opera!

 

Amanda's performing experience includes singing the National Anthem at a Chicago White Sox game, touring Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and all over the U.S.  She has led worship at Falls Creek (The largest youth encampment in the world) for 4 Summers!  She was also the first soloist in the new Tabernacle.  Amanda has performed multiple times for the Susan G. Komen Tulsa Race for the Cure, and Oklahoma State Law Enforcement Memorial & FOP State Conference. Amanda has been featured in the Tulsa World, Fox News, Channel 6 News, and on Channel 8 News for her performing and teaching successes.  The National Society of High School Scholars named her Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction in the Fall of 2017.

 

She has had solo students perform at the Cain's Ballroom, receive professional recording contracts, make it to the executive rounds at American Idol numerous times, graduate from Berklee School of Music and much more!  Her students can take lessons for fun or use lessons as stepping stones to help pay their way through college.  

 

Amanda attends over 200 hours of optional professional development each year for voice instructors to stay up to date with the best teaching techniques for students of all ages!

Sheldon Clark

Master Teacher, Guitar, Banjo, and Ukulele Instructor

 

Specialties: Guitar

 

Sheldon Clark has taught guitar for over 30 years.  Over 5 years with Foyil Music Studio of Owasso.  As a well known professional guitar player he is often sought out for gigs all over the country. He's played for bands who perform at venues like the Cain's Ballroom and many others across the Nation.  Sheldon loves sharing his musical gifts with his students and has a genuine desire to help them succeed in all things music related!

Kristi Sherwood

Master Teacher & Instrumental Instructor

 

Specialties: Woodwind Instruments, Piano, & General Music Classes

 

Kristi is an enthusiastic teacher who has experience teaching all ages. In addition to being an Owasso alumnus, she graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 2015. Kristi has a bachelor's degree in music education and is certified to teach music grades Pre-K-12.  She loves teaching our young students!

 

Kristi has participated in a variety of performing groups such as: The Pride of Owasso, the Razorback Marching Band, the University of Arkansas Wind Symphony, and the University of Arkansas New Music Ensemble. She was principle floutist of both the Wind Symphony and the Arkansas Intercollegiate Honor Band during her time in Fayettevile. She was the Presser Scholar recipient in 2014 and was deemed a Senior Scholar upon graduation.

 

In addition to teaching private music lessons to high school students, Kristi has also had extensive experience teaching young students. She was the elementary music teacher for grades K-2 in Catoosa, OK for five years. While there she received the Masonic Teacher of Today award and was selected Teacher of the Year in 2019.

Kaylin Parsons

Master Teacher, Music Therapist

 

Specialties: Voice, Piano, Ukulele, and Guitar

 

Kaylin is a hometown girl that has taken voice lessons since 5th grade.  Most of those years with Foyil Music Studio! She enjoyed all the extra performing opportunities included with lessons! 

 

As a board certified music therapist, she has worked in a variety of settings, including a children's hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas and special education in Odessa, Texas.

 

Kaylin graduated wiht an undergraduate degree in Music Therapy with an emphasis in voice at West Texas A&M University. While attending college she was in a variety of musical ensembles including Chamber Choir, Chorale, and Musical Theater Workshop. Additionally, in college, she received six semesters of piano lessons and one year of piano improvisation.

 

In May of 2022, Kaylin received her Master's in Social Work from Northeastern State University. She is currently working at the Tristesse Grief Center as a Licensed Masters Social Worker and a Board Certified Music Therapist. As a social worker, she is passionate about giving all kids equal access to enjoy the beauty of music!

Malia Sherwood

Master Teacher, Voice, Piano, and Brass Insructor

 

Specialties: Voice, Piano, and Trumpet

 

Malia received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. She received her Master's Degree from The University of Central Oklahoma in Vocal Pedegogy and is currently completing her Doctorate Degree from Kansas State University in Vocal Pedegogy.  

 

Proud to call Malia one of our alumni she has performed in amazing venues like Carnegie Hall, The Vatican, St. Paul's Cathedral.  She has also performed at the National ACDA Conference and Oklahoma Music Educators Conference both of which are big honors!

 

Malia has performed as a soloist at Bluebell Taste of Summer, Rooster Days, Owasso Harvest Festival, Tulsa's Mayfest, and many other festivals!  Malia currently teaches voice online and  master classes for voice students and substitute teaches when needed!

 

 

John Cox

 

Specialties: Brass Instruments, Drums, & Voice

 

John Cox is a band clinician and former band director in the state of Oklahoma. John received his bachelor's degree in Trumpet Performance with a minor in Education from Oklahoma Baptist Univeristy. He has taught at Bethel Public Schools, Hollis Public Schools, and Western Oklahoma State College in Altus.

 

John has served as a worship, youth, and education pastor for several churches across Oklahoma and New Mexico.  John is currently leading worship for First Baptist Church, Coweta. John is a member of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and the instrumental director for the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma.  John is a former member of the Oklahoma Baptist Symphony and is a charter member of the Shawnee/OBU Community Orchestra.  

 

He has professional memberships with Phi Mu Alpha Symphonia Fraternity of America, Oklahoma Music Educator's Association, International Jazz Educator's Association, Oklahoma Bandmaster's Association, and NAFME. John recently had the honor of being the clinician for the Tulsa Metro Jr. High Honor Band.

Chase Davis

 

Specialties: Voice, Beginner Piano, Ukulele, and Guitar

 

Chase has been singing for years. He started voice lessons with Foyil Music Studio in seventh grade and throughout junior high and high school made many honor choirs including Oklahoma All-State Choir!  Chase was also selected for the Quartz Mountain Choir twice!  In fact he received the top score of all bass singers auditioning for Quartz Mountain and was chosen to give a special performance because of this!  He has received multiple awards at District and State OSSAA Solo Competition as well as awards at NATS Competition!

 

Chase received multiple scholarship offers upon high school graduation but decided to pursue his vocal performance degree at Oklahoma Baptist University. Chase is in his third year as a vocal performance major. He has proven to be an outstanding performer and musician on several instruments including piano, ukulele, and guitar! Chase teaches Voice, beginner Piano, Ukulele, and Guitar in the studio.  He also substitute teaches when needed.  

 

Chase has lead worship at his church and has performed all over Oklahoma, most recently a lead roll in an opera!

Marilyn Foyil

 

Specialties: Beginning Piano

 

Marilyn graduated with her Bachelor of Education from Louisiana Tech and from Northeastern State University with her Masters in Education.  She taught for over 35 years before retiring from teaching in Tulsa Public Schools where she taught elementary grades and elementary music!  She absolutely loves working with beginners and young children and is a master at it! Marilyn is the accompanist for Freedom Church in Owasso, Owasso Band Soloists, and the Owasso High School Choirs.

 

She offers lessons in beginning piano and would love to get your little one started!
